Charlotte and Hunter fell in love while rafting this river, so it only made sense to start this new chapter here too for their Colorado River rafting elopement!
Their story began when Hunter and Charlotte both found their way to Moab in 2019 for very different, but equally random reasons. He wound up there after accepting a job as a river guide; she, a job working with a non-profit natural building organization. In mid-July of that year, with Southeast Utah temperatures near 110° in the afternoon, Hunter was enjoying the air conditioning at his favorite local pub, The Rio. As fate would have it, Charlotte was also at the same pub searching for some "free" air conditioning.
During their first conversation, they realized they had a mutual love for rivers, water, and river sports. Every day after, for months, after long days of river guiding and construction work, they would join each other for evening paddle board floats.
Years later they now own their own raft and paddle boards. Their dog Luthien loves the river just as much as they love each other. It was an easy and obvious choice for them to have a Colorado River rafting elopement where they fell in love, learned to trust and look out for one another, and where they both learned to love the quiet flow of the Colorado River and the excitement of whitewater.
To start their day, Charlotte, Hunter, and their guests rafted down the river to meet at their ceremony site. Once everyone was settled, they shared vows, exchanged rings, and sealed their commitment with a kiss. From there it was nothing but celebration and a dang good rafting trip!
