Sitting atop Mt. Rose, the Tannenbaum Event Center was the perfect setting for Brynn and Matt's Tahoe wedding with a surprise snowstorm. With a 180-degree view of the valley, this venue embodied the outdoor charm they had always envisioned. But nature added a twist—an unseasonal snowstorm turned their celebration into a true winter wonderland.
A Love Story Built on Friendship
Brynn and Matt started as neighbors, crossing paths casually until the pandemic brought them closer. During Brynn’s extended leave from her flight attendant job, they bonded over puzzles, drinks, and late-night chats. Matt proposed during a scenic hike on Catalina Island, a place special to Brynn.
Lake Tahoe: The Perfect Destination
With guests traveling from Alaska, England, Florida, and New York, Tahoe was the ideal destination. Its balance of natural beauty and accessibility made it check all of the boxes. The couple planned multiple events including a Thursday welcome party with karaoke, a Friday bowling bash, and a post-wedding bunch on Sunday, ensuring plenty of time to enjoy with their guests.
A Snowy Weather Surprise
On May 4th, an unseasonal snowstorm arrived just before the outdoor ceremony, transforming the day into a snowy wonderland. The ceremony was moved indoors, where guests enjoyed the view of snowfall through floor-to-ceiling windows. The couple was so glad they had prepared themselves ahead of time, having embraced the unpredictability of Tahoe’s spring weather.
Classic Style and Fun Touches
The wedding aesthetic was timeless, featuring white roses and simple decor to create an intimate atmosphere. Since it was May 4th, Brynn and Matt added humor with Star Wars lightsaber props, which were a hit in the photo booth.
Favorite Moments
One of the most cherished parts of the day was the couple’s first look in the snow. “We live in Southern California, so snow is magical to us,” Brynn shared. They choose to have their first look in the snow. As they exchanged private vows amidst the snowfall, they thought about how the unexpected weather turned their day into something even more special.
The reception featured a lively dance party, an espresso martini tower with chocolate chip cookies, and a late-night nacho bar!
Advice to Future Couples
Brynn and Matt’s advice: “Roll with the punches. Things won’t go as planned, and that’s okay. When you’re with the right person, everything else is just background noise.”
