Weddings are notorious for plans changing at the drop of a hat. We think we speak for every wedding professional when we say that the number one super power we’d like to have is to have control over the weather. James and Kylee’s wedding was no exception to this. They were caught in the middle of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina for their original planned wedding day! Some guests were still in transit to the wedding location, stranded or turned away at the airport due to cancelled flights. This experience launched these two into a three-day elopement adventure in Colorado with their photographer, Andy Wickstrom with Mountain Wed photography.
Thankfully Andy, who also was located in the same place as James and Kylee’s original venue in Asheville, North Carolina, had Starlink and was able to help organize and plan to go to Colorado. With it being the late fall, they had to explore a little bit to get to locations that were not cut off by the snow. They started with a first look at Chief Mountain, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, and then continued to a cabin down the mountain to do a cake cutting. We love that James and Kylee were so willing to drop everything and take off to Colorado to get some photos of them in their wedding attire. This wedding had the spirit of adventure with elegance that shows how anyone can have an adventure of their own, even when all of the elements seem to be against you.
