Cape Flattery, Washington — In early December, Alexandra and Josh drove from Oregon to Washington with their sweet dog, Rusty, for their winter Cape Flattery elopement. This is the northwesternmost point in the contiguous United States. It was a quintessential rainy PNW elopement. They were serenaded by the sound of sea lions as they exchanged vows with their dog and two best friends by their side, with waves crashing against the cliffs in the background.
Reading is an important part of Alexandra and Josh’s relationship, so before heading to Cape Flattery, they read passages from some of their favorite books together. To reach the viewpoints at Cape Flattery, they took a short hike through a forest filled with uniquely shaped trees and wooden platforms. As they got closer to the cliffs, they could hear sea lions barking in the distance. Many of them were resting on the rocks near Tatoosh Island, where the Cape Flattery Lighthouse stands.
Alexandra and Josh exchanged their personal vows privately before having their ceremony with their best friends. They included a ring-warming ceremony, and Rusty didn’t want to be left out, so he “blessed” the rings, too. He also made sure to join in for a family hug when Alexandra and Josh shared their first kiss.
With daylight running out, they headed to Lake Crescent to capture a few photographs during blue hour. When they arrived, Alexandra noticed fog rolling through the trees around the lake and commented that she had saved an image on her phone for years that looked just like the scene in front of them.
Since it was December, Christmas trees decorated Lake Crescent Lodge, adding something extra special to the evening. They ended the day sitting around the fire pit and reminiscing about their favorite moments from the day. The next morning, Alexandra and Josh met back up for a little nature therapy with a hike through the forest at Lake Crescent.
