Lofoten Islands, Norway — Franki and Tyler basically said, “screw it, let’s elope in Norway,” and that’s exactly what they did. Their winter elopement in the Lofoten Islands brought along their closest friends for a simple plan: get married somewhere incredible, eat great food, and hopefully catch the northern lights. While the lights didn’t make an appearance, the snow-capped fjords, rich Nordic history, and dramatic winter landscapes more than delivered.
They spent the day driving along the winding coastal roads, stopping anytime something caught their eye. Eventually, they found a quiet park overlooking some of the most epic fjord views and chose that spot to exchange vows. With only a handful of their closest people there and a few subtle Viking-inspired details woven in, the whole experience felt completely true to them.
One of the most unique parts of their day was the light. Visiting in February meant only a few hours of daylight, but it stretched into what felt like a full day of golden hour. They chased the light, pulling off on the side of the road for photos, and soaking in every moment without feeling rushed or tied to a strict timeline.
For couples dreaming of something similar, the best advice is to plan, stay flexible, and come prepared. They gave their friends plenty of notice so everyone could be ready for the adventure, kept their group small, and embraced the unpredictability of winter in Norway. As they quickly learned, there’s no bad weather, just the need to adapt. And when you do, you might just end up with something even better than you originally imagined.
